Aloha everyone, I am excited to offer an incredible 2-week dive trip in May 2027. The first week will be with Scandi Divers again, because the marine life, diving experience, and the food and staff services are unsurpassed on so many levels. I have dived all around the world and staying at Scandi Dive Resort is one of the best deals ever for top quality marine life viewing, underwater visibility, warm water, and dive crew and resort team!
I was blown away by the enormous sea fans, barrel sponges, carpets of abundant, pristine corals, fishes, turtles, rays, a thresher shark and wonderful warm waters, along with the unsurpassed kindness and quality of the Scandi Dive team. Plus, we got three top quality fantastic meals a day! Unbeatable for the price.
This trip we are adding a week visit to Pier Uno Dive Resort in Anilao, just a short ferry ride away from Scandi Divers. The last trip, the second week of diving entailed driving back to Manila to hop on a plane to Cebu. From there we took a crazy-scary, white-nuckler, 4-hour van ride and 1-hour ferry to Malapascua off Cebu Island. Driving in the Philippines is nuts. So, this time we are taking a break and will be avoiding hopping on another flight in Manila to go to the second week of diving. We will take a short ferry to Batangas and short van to Anilao to stay at the beautiful Pier Uno Dive Resort.
Anilao is widely regarded as the birthplace of scuba diving in the Philippines and a global hub for macro underwater photography. The variety of life hiding in its volcanic sandy slopes is almost absurd. There are close to 600 identified species, so divers may see seahorses, frogfish, blue-ringed octopus, scorpion fish, mandarin fish, and harlequin shrimp, an occasional thresher shark. Looking forward to seeing all this and visiting Pier Uno Dive Resort for my first time.
My first visit to Puerto Galera was in July 2024 on a dive trip led by Tim Rock, 35-year friend from Guam and underwater photographer extraordinaire! Since then, I've led dive trips there in June 2025, January 2026, and going back for more!

Not Certified to Dive? You Can Be!
Yes, in 3-4 days you can get your PADI dive certification with the pro PADI instructors at Scandi Divers. You can be with your friends on vacation and learn to dive in the warm, beautiful waters of Puerto Galera verses some cold-water reservoir or lake in the mainland that may take a week or two. The cost is $500
Or in 2-days for $350, you can take the PADI Scuba Diver course is a subset of the PADI Open Water Diver course. If you’re short on time but really want to become a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver rating might be right for you, particularly if you expect to go scuba diving primarily with a dive guide.

It is highly recommended you purchase personal travel and diving insurance, as they are not included in the package. Recommend you purchase a policy that convers airfare, trip cancellation due to any unforeseen circumstances and medical coverage. Here are some suggested companies:
Cancellations and Refunds
The booking is binding and payments are non-refundable. Heidi nor Oceanus One will be liable for cancellation of the dives or parts of the activities package due to change of circumstances, adverse weather conditions, or acts of God (e.g., cyclone, earthquake), delays in air, land, or sea transfer, political, cultural or government restrictions. Or any other causes beyond our control. All deposits are non-refundable. We regret that refunds can't be offered as there are too many binding and non-refundable payments on our end, so if you are reluctant to commit, recommend you purchase trip insurance that allows "cancellation for any reason."
The weather in Puerto Galera is pretty much perfect year-round and the rainy season is in July, so we should be free from any weather anomalies. In the event a scheduled activity is delayed or canceled for any reason, Heidi will arrange alternative activities in coordination with Scandi Divers and/or Pier Uno, where possible. Any changes and/or delays for the activities are at the discretion of Heidi and no refund will be available. Any additional expenses that may arise for the traveler such as airline tickets, fees for visas or connection changes or delays in the scheduled itinerary, shall be the responsibility of the expedition participant.
Not Included in the Expedition Package
Airfare, Hotel stay in Manila, visa and passport fees, personal travel insurance, airport departure taxes, excess baggage charges, airport transfers, accommodations, meals and beverages that are not part of the Scandi Dive Resort package, park and conservation fees, departure fees, clothing, liquor, laundry, medical expenses, expenses incurred as a result of delays due to inclement weather, scheduled boats, vans, or aircraft and logistics, emergency evacuation charges, and any gratuities.
